![]() All on 4 Treatment ConceptConsidered a breakthrough in restorative dentistry, dental implants have revolutionized the placement of artificial teeth. It gave a permanent solution to so many patients. A company named Nobel Biocare has revolutionized it again with their All-on-4 Treatment Concept. It has not only made the process more efficient and less costly but also broadened the patient base considerably. This is because, unlike traditional dental implants, the All-on-4 Treatment Concept does not require as much bone mass to complete and does not require multiple appointments. Scaling and Root PlaningA scaling and root planing is the most common periodontal procedure we perform. During a scaling and root planing, also known as "deep cleaning" we remove plaque and tartar (calcified plaque) deposits from tooth surfaces both above and below the gums. Both of these substances are directly responsible for the development of periodontal disease. Supported Periodontal TherapyThis is also known as periodontal maintenance procedure, which is performed at selected intervals (every 3 or 6 months based the severity of periodontal and implant diseases and the ability of patients to perform daily oral hygiene). FrenectomyMost of our mouths are imperfect in one way or another. In some cases, people are born with minor issues such as crooked teeth or a misaligned bite. In others, the problem can be caused by soft tissues like the frenum. At Implant & Periodontics Solutions, we specialize in surgical and non-surgical procedures designed to improve your periodontal health. If you have impaired oral functions due to problems with your frenum, you may need a frenectomy. Gingival ContouringWhile most people have no idea what the gingival contouring procedure is, this surgical option has been around for decades. While the technical term is gingival contouring, it boils down to gum reshaping. Each of us has a unique gum line and for some, the gums can cover a large portion of our teeth. This will make our smile appear gummy, our teeth appear too small. In other instances, the teeth appear too large, the gum tissue not coming down far enough over the teeth. Gum Graft SurgeryAny patient who has experienced pain while drinking or eating hot or cold foods or beverages or who have noticed overly sensitive areas in their mouth may benefit from a gum graft. Over sensitivity and discomfort can all be associated with receding gums. When the gums begin to draw away from the base of the tooth, small pockets form, which can then expose the sensitive areas of the tooth roots and cause the pain response. Soft Tissue GraftingOur soft tissues (gums) are just as important to our oral health as our teeth. At Implant & Periodontics Solutions, we specialize in preventive and restorative treatments for your soft tissues. One of the most common restorative treatments we perform is known as soft tissue grafting. PAAO SurgeryThis is a regenerative surgery to help facilitate rapid but controlled teeth movement during orthodontic treatment without causing adverse side effects (bone resorption, gingival recession, root apex resorption, root ankylosis, teeth mobility, pulpal necrosis) while ensures the stability of teeth position long after orthodontic treatment. ExtractionsFear of the dentist is one of the most common fears people have. They are worried about feeling pain during the examination. That fear gets even worse when there is surgery involved. Thankfully, tooth extractions are one of the most frequently performed surgeries and can be done in a single appointment. The use of sedation dentistry makes sure the patient is comfortable and pain-free throughout the extraction procedure. Platelet Rich PlasmaWe focus not only on the dental solutions and treatment plans, but also your comfort level and aftercare needs. This is why we include the use of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in our practice. Platelet Rich Plasma not only expedites healing but in some cases, it can be used as a non-invasive solution to some dental conditions. Not only is it something we like to use with our mature patients, but it is also highly effective at regenerating dental tissue naturally. Platelet Rich FibrinAfter undergoing any type of surgery, including oral surgery, your body goes right to work healing itself. The blood contains factors that aid in this process. However, even though the body does an amazing job of repairing itself, the mouth is filled with oral bacteria that can increase your risk for infections and other complications. At Implant & Periodontics Solutions, we can help to speed up your rate of healing and reduce your risk for infections, with leukocyte platelet-rich fibrin. Cracked ToothA crack tooth can have a very intense pain or not even noticeable by the patient depending on the extent of the crack. In cases where the crack is within the crown portion above the neck of the tooth, most of the time the tooth can be saved. However, if the crack extends down the root(s) of the tooth, then it's a vertical root fracture and thus the tooth must be extracted to avoid complications such pain, dental abscess and alveolar bone loss. If the crack tooth is planned for extraction, the majority of the time we can replace the soon to be extracted tooth by placing a dental implant on the same day, adding bone graft to fill the space between the extraction socket wall and the implant, as well as fabricating an interim implant crowns which is securely screwed onto the implant. This interim implant crown looks relatively similar to the contour and color the adjacent teeth. Related LinksWhy Oral Cancer Screening Is Important? Oral cancer is more aggressive than other commonly known cancers such as prostate, stomach, lymphatic, lung and skin cancers. The investment genius of our time, Warren Buffet (aka. The Oracle of Omaha) lost his first wife to oral cancer despite their immense wealth and access to the best medical and dental care. The difference in survival rate is the types of oral cancers and whether the cancer is detected and treated early. If oral cancer is detected early, the survival rate is 80 - 90%. We know you are occupied with many things you have to take care of and all of the activities you need to attend. But please understand the importance of oral health and its relation to your general health. We recommend you have your oral cancer screening once a year. At Implant and Periodontics Solutions, we perform a thorough oral cancer screening as part of your annual comprehensive periodontal examination and at your consultation examination if you are a new patient to our practice.
